MINTED | ALT SUMMIT

design

As Minted’s framed art business grew it became increasingly important to promote the growing range of options. For the 2017 Alt Summit conference Minted wanted to find a way to engage the influencers attending the event and educate them on our offerings.

To help the influencers get a hands-on understanding of our offerings, I developed a booth with a gallery wall styling activity. The influencers attending the event were encouraged to choose from a selection of Minted’s art and frames to style their own gallery wall and share to social media. We brought along flyers offering a discount to influencers who participated in the activity as well as catalogs to more fully explain our offerings. As the lead designer on the project, I was responsible for driving every aspect of the project, from the development of the booth construction, to the selection of the supplemental furniture, to the signage and collateral needs.

CART DEVELOPMENT

As we began the work for this event, we knew that we wanted to create a modular piece of furniture that we could re-use at future events. To do this we needed to consider the booth space and limitations of Alt Summit, and also the likely standards for future events. To get a clear understanding of the overall landscape I researched the rules for past events and worked with the team to develop a final design that would address the vast majority of circumstances. Height limits for side walls and line of site requirements are common, so the cart was designed to work as an “L”, unfolded straight into a long back wall , or as two individual side walls. The cart was sized to fit within standard freight elevators to ensure that it could even be brought to office pop-up events and easily stored when not in use. Additionally, we worked with our fabrication team to ensure the cart would not require any special tools to set up and would be light-weight enough that 2 people could move it. Magnetic panels were installed throughout to make the gallery wall activity a frictionless experience. Storage is a common issue at events, so drawers were beautifully built into the cart to give the team places to stash extra collateral, purses, and other small items.
